Chelsea have a pick of four players to satisfy Todd Boehly's final transfer craving

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Lyon starlet Bradley Barcola as they plot yet another summer transfer. It is claimed that the Blues want a player who can play as both a right-winger and an attacking midfielder, with Barcola perfectly fitting the profile.

Michael Olise opting to stay at Crystal Palace has seen Chelsea turn their attention to Barcola. But Fabrizio Romano reports that Lyon will only consider selling in a player-exchange deal. Express Sport looks at who the Premier League outfit can offer.

Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea are still trying to offload Lukaku amid the collapse of several moves to Italy. The striker has been linked with former club Inter Milan, while Juventus are also widely reported to have expressed an interest.

Lukaku has no future at Stamford Bridge having not appeared in any of their pre-season fixtures, nor the opening two Premier League games. A move to the Ligue 1 to play in Lyon could be enticing for a player looking to kickstart the second half of his career.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi also appears to be heading towards the Stamford Bridge exit, and a straight swap for a wide man might be the most acceptable option for Lyon. Crystal Palace and Lyon have both been linked with the former England starlet, but no move has materialised.

Still only 22, Hudson-Odoi needs a fresh start at a club where he would be given the time and patience to thrive. Having showed glimpses of his quality during a loan at Bayer Leverkusen last term, he will want to move on from Chelsea as soon as possible.

Marc Cucurella

Not many other transfers have epitomised Chelsea’s wayward, scatter-gun approach than Cucurella. Signed from Brighton for £62m, the Spaniard has been one of the bigger flops of the Todd Boehly-led era.

Displaced on the left of the back three by Levi Colwill and having a range of left-wing-back options ahead of him, Cucurella might wonder when his next opportunity at Chelsea might come. A quick exit to Lyon, in return for Barcola, might be the best option to ensure his career does not stall on the Chelsea bench.

Malang Sarr

You would be forgiven for forgetting that defender Sarr is still Chelsea’s player. He has played just 21 times for the Blues since his switch from Nice in 2020.

A permanent return to France would allow the 24-year-old to settle at a club. It would also help Chelsea secure Barcola.
